Official Rules for Mulligans and Foot Wedge String
Rules for Mulligans
-
When you use a Mulligan, each player on the team is allowed a re-do of their previous shot. In other words, one Mulligan allows each player on the team to re-take their previous shot.
-
A stroke is charged for the initial shot, but not for the Mulligan.
-
Mulligans can be used anywhere on the course, including the green.
-
If a Mulligan is used on the green, each player may re-take their putt. A stroke is charged for the initial putt, but not for the Mulligan.
IMPORTANT: Please document your team name and the hole # on which you used each Mulligan on the Mulligan ticket, and turn your Mulligans in at the end of your round!!
In case of a tie, the number of Mulligans used will be used to break the tie. For example, if 2 teams have a score of -20, and 1 team uses 3 Mulligans while the other uses 4, the team using the fewest Mulligans will be declared the winner.
Rules for Foot Wedge String
-
String may be used anywhere on the course, including on the green.
-
String is used to move your ball away from hazards in the fairway or closer to the hole on the green. A stroke is not charged for use of string.
-
For example, if you are 2-ft. from the cup after 2 strokes, you may use 2-ft. of String to move your ball 2-ft. closer to the cup, essentially holing out. You are not charged a stroke for using the string, so your score on that hole would be
-
-
String is essentially an extension of your last shot. On a Par 4, if your 3rd shot lands on the green and you have enough string to advance your ball into the cup, the string extends your 3rd shot into the cup and your score is 3.
-
The easiest way to track how much string you’ve used is to tie a knot in the String. If you use 6” of string, tie a knot 6” from the end of the string, or 6” from the previous knot.
-
IMPORTANT: Please turn in your string at the end of the round, as the total length of string used may be used as a tiebreaker.
This is not The Masters…but we do expect you to be honest about your use of Mulligans and String.
-
Record your team name and hole # on your Mulligan tickets, and turn them in at the end of the round.
-
Use your best judgment regarding the length of string you use on each occasion and turn it in at the end of the round.
