About the Nipper Cup
The Nipper Cup is an annual golf tournament sponsored by Friends in Recovery, a non-profit organization that offers monthly sober activities for recovering alcoholics/addicts and their families, friends and supporters.

All proceeds generated from the event go toward funding future sober events that provide people in recovery with opportunities to enjoy life and have fun without the need for chemicals.
​
The tournament is named in honor of the late Duane "Nipper" Bertlesen, the founder of We Care AA and longtime member of Friends in Recovery.
Tournament Format
The Nipper Cup is a 4-man best ball tournament using a cumulative team score to determine the winner. Each player hits off the tee, then hits his/her next shot from the best ball location. A single team score is recorded for each hole.
After 18 holes, the team with the lowest total score is declared the winner and earns bragging rights for the next year!
But the Nipper Cup is not about winning…it's about FELLOWSHIP and having FUN!
To help every team lower their score, each team may purchase up to (2) $20 Stroke Saver Packs prior to tee off.

Each Stroke Saver Pack includes 2 mulligans and 4' of foot wedge string. Mulligans and Foot Wedge String may be used anywhere on the course. Limit of TWO Stroke Saver Packs per team.
​
We'll also have 50/50 CLOSEST TO THE PIN and LONG DRIVE competitions on the course. Just $5 gives you a chance at winning the 50/50 JACKPOTS. The more people enter, the bigger the prize.
​
PLUS....there will be plenty of great door prizes! Each player gets one free raffle ticket with entry, and more can be purchased at $2 each or 3 for $5.

How Much Does it Cost?
Cost is $60 per player, or $240 per team.*

Registration by team is preferred. If you don't have a team, you may register as an individual golfer and we will place you with a team.

Where is the Tournament held?
The 2024 Nipper Cup is being hosted at Applewood Hills Golf Club in Stillwater, MN.
How to get to Applewood HIlls Golf Club
From the Twin Cities: East on MN-36 to Lake Elmo Ave N. Take a left on Lake Elmo Ave N., then a quick right onto 60th St. N. Travel approx. 0.8 miles and the Golf Course will be on your left.
